Phobias are one of the most common mental health concerns. In fact, 1 in 10 persons will experience a phobia at some point in their life. Common phobias include fear of a type of animal (e.g., dogs), natural environments (e.g., heights, storms), blood-injection-injury (e.g., needles, medical procedures), and situations (e.g., flying). The most common symptoms are intense anxiety and avoidance when confronted with the phobic object or situation.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), specifically Exposure and Response Prevention (EX/RP), has been shown to be an effective treatment for phobia. If you are interested in learning more about how I may be able to help, please contact me for a free phone consultation.
